The Wilsong 39 Music label Story…
It all started with the late, great, Mr. Al Wilson himself. After a lifetime of music, as a musician, a singer and a writer, Mr Al Wilson formed his own Independent Music Label and began to distribute some of his own original works.
Having fought and won long legal battles pertaining to his time in the music business, and led by his longtime colleague, lawyer, and business partner, the late, legendary artist advocate, Mr. Joe Vincent, Al Wilson understood the value of the rising tide of Independent Music Artists in the late 90’s, and the power in the ability for artists to distribute their own material, without being signed to a label and all that may bring.
During the years prior to his passing, Al Wilson grew and cultivated the foundation of his Music Label and vision.
He released revisions of old material and wrote, composed and Co- Produced originals he would sell and distribute on tour and through contracted venues. Amongst these originals are a single entitiled, “The Spice Of Life” and “A Wish for Christmas”, the latter being a part of a Christmas Collection, released by Al Wilson, under his Wilsong Music Company.
Additionally, Al Wilson had an artist development element to his music label. He taught voice lessons to private individuals under the Wilsong 39 Music business name, locally in the Southern California, San Bernardino area where he resided.
Upon his passing, his daughter and executor, Alene Wilson-Harris teamed up with her eldest sibling and with the blessings of the oldest living patriarch, Al Wilson’s older brother Eddie Wilson, (former co-member of Doo Wop group The Jewels/ The Rollers) decided to revamp, expand and expounded on her father’s desires.
Alene, was introduced to the entertainment and music world by her father. She can be seen in the historic footage on Soul Train, where, held by the show’s iconic host, Don Cornelius, Alene is introduced to the world and a song is dedicated to her, by her father. Alene went on to introduce her father on tour as a toddler, and before the age of 10 became a familiar face on classic television shows, in guest starring and featured roles.
As an adult, Alene carried the torch beyond her father’s writing and production aspirations, earning credits as a writer and producer on Platinum artist, Coolio’s Nature of The Business, album, (ASCAPS 1997 Rap Album of The Year) in which she featured and produced her father, Al Wilson, on the song’s chorus. The idea to build on the legacy her father had begun, was both natural and organic.
The Wilsong 39 Music Company Inc. is dedicated to creating quality, timeless music, that can offer something nourishing and beautiful to the souls of listeners, as the legacy of Al Wilson’s music has for more than 7 decades…
